The overwhelming evidence from the Service Record of Solomon Starnes indicates he died of disease in a hospital in Shepardsville or Carolina City.

At that point in 1861, the 7th NC was in winter quarters and was not engaged in combat until the Battle of New Bern on March 14, 1862. Not sure why the listing has him as killed, but he did die of disease.

If you want email me and I will be happy to send you what information I have on him, interestingly enough you are the second person to ask about information on him.

-EricEric Lindbladehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04171192890041671260noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4264978732233367839.post-12135762726887593152011-05-24T05:14:12.618-04:002011-05-24T05:14:12.618-04:00Ed Lyons U.S. Civil War Soldier Records and Profil...Ed Lyons U.S. Civil War Soldier Records and Profiles
about Solomon Starns
Name: Solomon Starns
Residence: Cabarrus County, North Carolina
Occupation: Farmer
Age at enlistment: 43
Enlistment Date: 6 Oct 1861
Rank at enlistment: Private
Enlistment Place: Cabarrus County, NC
State Served: North Carolina
Survived the War?: No
Service Record: Enlisted in Company B, North Carolina 7th Infantry Regiment on 10 Jun 1861.
Mustered out or Kill on about 24 Dec 1861 at Shepardsville.Does anyone have any more Informention may have happen on around Dec. 1861

Birth Date: abt 1818
Sources: North Carolina Troops 1861-65, A Roster

U.S. Civil War Soldiers, 1861-1865
about Solomon Starnes
Name: Solomon Starnes
Side: Confederate
Regiment State/Origin: North Carolina
Regiment Name: 7 North Carolina Infantry
Regiment Name Expanded: 7th Regiment, North Carolina Infantry
Company: B
Rank In: Private
Rank In Expanded: Private
Rank Out: PrivateEd Lyonshttp://civilwarmykinnc.net/index.htmlnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4264978732233367839.post-67011167260653264722011-01-02T11:08:16.227-05:002011-01-02T11:08:16.227-05:00Walker,

He publishes lots of local and regional history, and your project would be right in his wheelhouse. He's recently published a book on Potter's Raid, and I imagine your book will be somewhat similar in scope. If you want his info let me know and I'll put you in touch with him.

Andrew DuppstadtAndrew Duppstadthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10886636068786745680noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4264978732233367839.post-90542933699585179522009-03-02T16:45:00.000-05:002009-03-02T16:45:00.000-05:00Sounds like a great project.
